Nevada Justices Hear |O.J. Simpson Bail Plea

LAS VEGAS (CN) - In a rare move, a three-member panel of the Nevada Supreme Court heard arguments Monday from lawyers for O.J. Simpson and C.J. Stewart, who sought bail for their clients while the high court reviews their appeals.

The panel didn't specify at the end of the hearing how long it will take to reach its decision.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal said Monday's hearing was the first of its kind in 30 years. Neither men were present.

Simpson, 62, was sentenced to nine to 33 years for kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon for his role in the September 2007 hotel room heist at the Palace Station involving two sports memorabilia dealers. Stewart, 55, got seven-and-a-half to 27 years.

Attorneys for Simpson and Stewart have maintained that their clients did not receive fair trials.

It is likely their appeals won't be heard until at least a year, according to The Associated Press.
