Nevada Insurance Law Challenged

LAS VEGAS (CN) - A state law that requires public insurance adjusters to live in the state to do business in Nevada is unconstitutional because it give local residents an unfair advantage over nonresidents, a man claims in Federal Court. Ronald Reitz says the law precludes him from doing business in the Silver State and impairs his ability to earn a living.

"The statute cannot serve any purpose other than to prevent non-resident insurance adjusters from being licensed in the state," the lawsuit states.

Reitz is a licensed public insurance adjuster in nearly every state. He wants a declaration that the law is unconstitutional.
