Nevada Dem. Leader Pleads Guilty to Hitting Son, Resigns

LAS VEGAS (CN) - Douglas County's Democratic Party chairman resigned Friday after pleading guilty to hitting his teen-age son and throwing him on the hood of a car when he learned the boy was no longer on his school's soccer team. Paul Belt was charged Wednesday with domestic battery against his 15-year-old son, The Associated Press reported.

He was sentenced Friday to a suspended one-year jail term and ordered to attend counseling.
