Nevada Blocks UHG-Sierra Health Merger

LAS VEGAS (CN) - The State of Nevada filed a federal antitrust complaint to block United Health Group's acquisition of Sierra Health Services, claiming it will reduce competition and increase medical costs for elderly people. The defendants provide "94 percent of the total enrollment in Medicare Advantage plans in the Las Vegas area, which totals approximately $840 million in annual commerce," the State says.
