Nev. Bomb Investigation Extends to Arizona

KINGMAN, ARIZ. (CN) — The search of an explosives-laden motor home in Kingman, Arizona, continues, rented by a man thought to have killed himself in a twin bombing in Nevada Wednesday night.

Kingman Police ordered the evacuation of about half the Zuni Village RV Park Thursday after discovering explosives in a motor home rented by Glenn Franklin Jones, 59, who is suspected of setting off two bombs in Panaca, Nevada, on Wednesday night, the Kingman Daily Miner reported.

News reports indicate Jones had recently been fired from his job as a nurse and traveled to his former boss' home in Panaca, about 165 miles north of Las Vegas.

His boss wasn't home, and reports indicate Jones ordered the man's wife and three children to leave before detonating a bomb he carried into the home. A second bomb in Jones' car also exploded.

Lincoln County Sherriff Kerry Lee told News 3 Las Vegas that the blast radius was at least a mile, and the explosions blew out windows in homes in every direction.

"It took my breath away. I went out and saw a fireball," Lee told News 3.

Jones likely died in the explosion — the debris of which caused minor injuries to a bicyclist — but Jones' death has not been made official.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the dead man's rented motor home in Kingman turned up a large amount of explosives.

The Kingman Police Department Explosive Ordinance Detail, the FBI and local police secured the park before noon Thursday, the Daily Miner reported.

The investigation continued Friday, including searching a local storage locker rented by Jones. Meanwhile, the Red Cross established a temporary shelter at Kingman High School.

Kingman Police said some local businesses and neighborhoods also might require evacuation as the investigation continues.
