Netflix faces stolen script suit

A filmmaker says Netflix ripped off his movie idea in its new film “Rez Ball” by copying not only the general premise, but also a “striking and substantial amount of concrete expressive elements” from the filmmaker’s copyrighted script. The filmmaker says he confidentially shared his script “The Gift of the Game,” a movie about Native American basketball players, to people connected to the director of the Netflix movie, and named “Rez Ball” producer and basketball superstar LeBron James among the defendants.
