NBA Player Claims Bouncer Assaulted Him

CLEVELAND (CN) - Professional basketball player Shannon Brown claims he was tossed from the Liquid Café nightclub and assaulted by bouncer Timothy Bowser, who threw Brown to the ground and handcuffed him, while shouting racial insults at him in front of other patrons.

Brown, who played for the Cleveland Cavaliers at the time, claims the attack injured and publicly humiliated him, "such that a reasonable man should not be expected to endure."

He demands actual and punitive damages, insisting that his ejection from the club and the subsequent attack were unwarranted and unprovoked.

He is represented in Cuyahoga County Court by Jamie Lebovitz of Nurenberg, Paris, Heller & McCarthy.

Brown now plays for the Chicago Bulls.
