National Debt

In an uptick attributed to President Donald Trump's $1.5 trillion tax cut and increased domestic as well as military spending, the national debt topped $22 trillion for the first time Tuesday.

WASHINGTON — In an uptick attributed to President Donald Trump's $1.5 trillion tax cut and increased domestic as well as military spending, the national debt topped $22 trillion for the first time Tuesday.

Now at $22.01 trillion, the debt stood at $19.95 trillion when President Donald Trump took office on Jan. 20, 2017.
