N.Y. Appellate Divisions

ATTORNEY FEES - Theappellate divisionfound thatthe nonparty law firm's threat to stop working on the plaintiff's malpractice action, and its demand for a new agreementallowing it tocollect fees from the plaintiff's settlement obtainedin anunrelated case, constituted improperly coercive attempts to collect a legal fee. Thus, plaintiff properly discharged the law firm for cause. Reversed.
