N.Y. Appeals Court Saves Pit Bull Terrier’s Life

BROOKLYN (CN) - The appellate division granted clemency to a pit bull terrier named Duke whose owner was told to have the dog "destroyed" for attacking another dog. The state's dangerous dog statute does not permit death based on dog-on-dog attacks, the court ruled. It eased Duke's sentence to "permanent, secure confinement." See ruling.
