N.C. Court Of Appeals

ATTORNEYS - The North Carolina Court of Appeals found that attorney Willie D. Gilbert II's use of a client's $6,800 for personal expenses was unauthorized and was therefore a tort of conversion. The court affirmed the award of punitive damages and double compensatory damages for Gilbert's breach of fiduciary duty and conversion, but reversed the award of pre- and post-judgment interest on compensatory damages.
