Muslim’s Head-Scarf Claim Can Proceed

LOS ANGELES (CN) - After arresting a Muslim woman on misdemeanor charges, Orange County Sheriff's officers forced her to remove her hijab, or head scarf, despite her repeated invocation of a religious prohibition on it. U.S. District Judge David Carter dismissed some of Souhair Khatib's claims against the Orange County Sheriff's office, but let civil rights and emotional distress claims proceed.
