Murder conviction dropped because trial wasn’t speedy

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas Supreme Court reluctantly reversed the two life sentences and 835-year sentence for a man who was convicted of murder following a gang-related drive-by shooting committed in front of a child. He was held for 405 days during which speedy trial was not tolled due to Covid-19 delays and docket congestion, beyond the 365-day maximum, so his case is dismissed on speedy trial grounds.
