Mother Sues Twitter|for Mean People’s Names

CHICAGO (CN) – A mother sued Twitter for the identities of people who impersonated her daughter on the social media site, tweeting in her name “my passion is being fat,” “free hand and blowjobs call me,” and posting her phone number and picture online.
The mother sued Twitter on behalf of her minor daughter, in Cook County Court.
She seeks a court order compelling Twitter to release the identities of people who set up two Twitter accounts.
“Petitioner requires this information because her minor daughter has discovered two accounts on Twitter impersonating her,” the complaint states. “The impersonator has been tweeting (publishing to third parties) hurtful and slanderous statements as well as disclosing publicly petitioner’s minor daughter’s full name, city, picture, and personal phone number, without her permission and knowledge,” the lawsuit states. (Parentheses in complaint.)
The Twitter accounts at issue are @dreadfulfatchic and @dreadfullyLARGE, both of which have been suspended.
The impersonator who set up @dreadfulfatchic sent out nine tweets, which included: “my passion is being fat”; “sext me”; a complete phone number; “free hand jobs and blowjobs call me”; and other hurtful statements, “which call petitioner’s daughter a whore and many other statements,” the mother says in the lawsuit.
That account had 47 followers when it was suspended, the mother says.
The other Twitter account also sent out offensive statements.
The mother claims her daughter “a minor, has been harassed and threatened via other social networks and petitioner needs to know who is responsible for the damages she is sustaining and the possible risk of harm by them to her.”
The mother and daughter are represented by Joseph Leonardi.
