Mother Sues for Bizarre|Death at Warehouse Rave

TAMPA (CN) - A man died at a warehouse rave after its hosts responded to his medical emergency by "sticking him in the back of a van, wrapping him in Saran Wrap, and putting a Valium in his mouth," his mother claims in court.

Angela Jarquin sued Gatlin's GoForCash Inc. for the wrongful death of her son, Nelson Martinez, in Hillsborough County Court.

Jarquin claims her son was one of about 300 people at the "warehouse rave party" at the defendant's Tampa property on Dec. 17, 2011. She says GoForCash has hosted similar warehouse for at least a year before that date.

Her son "began to suffer from a medical emergency" at the rave, which his mother does not elucidate in the lawsuit.

"Upon information and belief, at least two individuals present at the premises then removed Nelson Martinez from the premises, stuck him in a van, wrapped him in Saran Wrap, and put a Valium in his mouth," the complaint states.

"Upon information and belief, at least one of the tenants leasing the premises from defendant Gatlin's GoForCash, Inc. participated in removing Nelson Martinez from the premises, sticking him in the back of a van, wrapping him in Saran Wrap, and putting a Valium in his mouth.

"Upon information and belief, Nelson Martinez remained wrapped in the back of the van and was transported to the Zoe Bloom Salon at 1710 S. Dale Mabry Hwy., Tampa, Fla., 33629, where he remained until paramedics were later alerted to the situation.

"The above-described acts resulted in the death of Nelson Martinez on Dec. 17, 2011."

The Zoe Bloom Salon is not a party to the lawsuit.

Jarquin demands damages for negligence and wrongful death. She is represented by Nadine Diaz, with Darrigo, Diaz & Jimenez.
