Morgan Freeman Wrecked Her Car,|Sending Her to Hospital, Woman Says

TALLAHATCHIE, Miss. (CN) - Actor Morgan Freeman injured a female passenger last August when he drove her car into a ditch on his way home from dinner and drinks at a country club, Demaris Meyer claims in Federal Court.

Meyer says she met Freeman through William Luckett, the actor's "attorney, friend, and business partner," who introduced them at the Bayou Bend Golf & Country Club. "Throughout the course of dinner and afterward, drinks were consumed by Freeman," Meyer claims.

She says they rode to Luckett's house after dinner, where Freeman again imbibed.

Freeman then invited Meyer to stay the night at his house in Tallahatchie, indicating that she could have her own room, and her "own house," the lawsuit states.

On the way, Meyer says Freeman lost control of her Nissan Maxima, causing it to hit a dirt embankment and flip "several times."

Meyer says she was airlifted to a hospital in Memphis "with serious and disabling injuries, including a broken left wrist and right scapula, a torn labrum in her right shoulder, pulmonary contusions, cervical strain and numerous bruises and lacerations."

She also claims she suffered a head injury that resulted in short-term memory loss.

She says she has been unable to work due to her injuries, mental anguish and emotional distress from the Aug. 3 crash.

She wants Freeman to pay for her medical costs and lost wages, plus damages for pain and suffering.

Her attorney is Walter Morrison of Sessums, Dallas & Morrison in Ridgeland, Miss.
