ST. LOUIS (CN) - Former NBA player Darius Miles was arrested at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport for allegedly trying to bring a loaded gun through security.
Miles, 29, was arrested Wednesday after Transportation Security Administration workers saw the gun during X-ray screening. It is not clear whether TSA alleges that Miles had the gun on him, or in his luggage.
Miles was booked on suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon and was released without bond. The St. Louis County prosecutor's office will decide whether to file charges.
Miles, of Swansea, Ill., is no stranger to trouble. He was arrested in Fairview Heights, Ill., in 2009 and charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and driving on a suspended license. Miles had had to sit out 10 games in the 2008-2009 season for violating the NBA's substance abuse policy.
Miles was the No. 3 pick overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2000 NBA draft. He was drafted straight out of East St. Louis High School. He ended his career with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2009, and also played for Portland and Cleveland. He averaged 10.1 points and 4.9 rebounds a game for his career.
