More Nuclear Accident Coverage Is Required

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has increased the amount of primary nuclear liability coverage required to run a nuclear power plant from $300 million to $375 million.

The rule, which is effective May 3, applies to operating, commercial nuclear power plants with a rated capacity of 100,000 electrical kilowatts or more.
