More Fallout From Sandusky Sex Scandal

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CN) - In fallout from the Jerry Sandusky sex scandal, a young John Doe sued a Harrisburg psychiatric center in Federal Court, claiming it referred him to Sandusky's camp, where the Penn State coach molested him.

John Doe sue the Edgewater Psychiatric Center along with other actors in the Sandusky scandal, including Penn State University, Sandusky himself and his Second Mile foundation, three Penn State administrators, the McQuaide Blasko law firm, which still represents Penn State, and McQuaide Blasko attorney Wendell Courtney.

Doe claims that Edgewater referred him to Second Mile "for a number of years to participate in 'camps,'" where Sandusky molested young boys.

"The original referral of John Doe was done through Edgewater Psychiatric Center," the complaint states. "John Doe's original referral was made on February 16, 2001.

"John Doe, a young black male, was participating in a 'Summer Challenge' under the supervision and management of 'Second Mile' during the summer of 2005. At the time he was approximately 14 years old.

"The Second Mile program was promoted and presented as a 'Jerry Sandusky' program."

In the summer of 2005, Doe says, he was taken to a Penn State pool for swimming.

"At the pool plaintiff met Jerry Sandusky," the complaint states. "Sandusky came up to the plaintiff while he was in the water and Sandusky took plaintiff's genitals in his hand as he commented 'what have we here' as he squeezed and manipulated John Doe's genitals.

"Deeply confused and troubled, the plaintiff recoiled from what Sandusky said and did. He backed away, as rapidly as he could, telling Sandusky he didn't want anything like that.

"Plaintiff was emotionally distraught and subsequently left Penn State and Second Mile, at the end of that week, as soon as he could, and returned to Harrisburg."

Edgewater, a nonprofit, "refused to acknowledge or cooperate with plaintiff's pre-complaint investigation into these matters" and "was aware of Sandusky's abuse yet referred the plaintiff to Second Mile exposing him to abuse at the hands of defendant Sandusky," according to the complaint.

Sandusky was sentenced to life in prison last week on 45 counts for sexual abuse of 10 young boys.

Doe also sued Penn State administrators or former administrators Graham Spanier, Timothy Curley, and Gary Schultz.

He seeks punitive damages for sexual abuse, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence and other torts.

"All of the defendants permitted Sandusky to continue his molesting of young children unabated being concerned only with covering up his misconduct to protect what they believed was the all-important reputation and financial largess of PSU and the Second Mile without any regard to protecting the young boys involved," the complaint states.
