More Bundy Militants Jailed Heeding Call to Go Home

(CN) - Authorities arrested another three militants from the month-long occupation of a federal refuge in Oregon late Wednesday but declined to say how many remain.

The arrests occurred after Ammon Bundy, 40, called on supporters who joined his occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge to disband.

"I'm asking the federal government to allow the people at the refuge to go home without being prosecuted," Bundy said in a statement read by his lawyer, Mike Arnold, outside the Mark O. Hatfield Courthouse in Portland.

Bundy has been in jail since his arrest Tuesday in a bloody clash with the Oregon State Police and FBI.

"To those at the refuge, I love you," Bundy said. "Let us take this fight from here. Please stand down. Please stand down. Go home and hug your families."

Duane Leo Ehmer, 45, of Irrigon, Ore.; Dylan Wade Anderson, 34, of Provo, Utah, and Jason S. Patrick, 43, of Bonaire, Ga., left the refuge over the next few hours, turning themselves in at checkpoints the FBI set up around the perimeter.

The three men each face one felony count of conspiracy to impede officers of the United States from discharging their official duties through the use of force, intimidation, or threats.

Bundy and six others indicted Wednesday face the same charges.

Police did not say how many more militants were still occupying federal buildings at the refuge.

Though authorities have also still not released the name of the militant killed during Bundy's arrest Tuesday, Bundy confirmed reports identifying this man as LeVoy Finicum.

"I want to address my beloved friend, LeVoy Finicum," Bundy said. "Levoy is one of the greatest men and greatest patriots I've ever seen. His love for this country ran deep through the blood he gave yesterday. And I mourn for him and I mourn for his family. I'm praying fervently for you in every prayer. We'll have more to say later, but right now I'm asking the federal government to allow the people at the refuge to go home without being prosecuted."
