Mom Sues School After Son’s Seizure

LAS VEGAS (CN) - The mother of an elementary school student who suffered a seizure during PE in the middle of summer says her son was seriously burned on his face and arm because a teacher allowed him to lie unconscious on the hot asphalt.

Elizabeth Morales says teacher Robert Wankowski knew her son, Pedro, was prone to seizures, but "failed to properly supervise and enact proper safeguards to prevent" the boy's injuries.

The boy had a seizure on the blacktop on June 25, 2007, and because he was allowed to lie there too long, suffered "severe burns to his forearm and forehead."

According to the National Weather Service, the average high temperature in Las Vegas in June is 100 degrees.

Morales also sued the Clark County School District.

She is represented by David Moore.
