Mom Sues Over Son’s Funeral Footage in Ad

BROOKLYN (CN) - A funeral home broadcast video of a 13-year-old boy's funeral on YouTube to advertise its services, the boy's mother claims in Kings County Supreme Court.

Tiffany Orr says Robeson & Brown Funeral Home exhibited a video showing her "in various stages of mental anguish and distress due to the death of her son and the funeral services being conducted at defendant's premises." She says she never gave the funeral home permission to use her image.

According to published reports, Orr's son, Ronald Wallace Jr., was shot and killed in August 2012 by another teenager.

The funeral home "did attempt to promote itself and further its business through dissemination of the video in public form such as the Internet and YouTube video, portions of which did contain the image of plaintiff, Tiffany Orr, without her consent," according to the complaint.

The funeral home did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday.

Orr seeks unspecified damages for "severe nervous shock and mental anguish."

She is represented by Robert Lucchese with Lucchese & D'Ammora LLP.
