Mom Sues NYC Schools,|Alleging Years of Abuse

BRONX, N.Y. (CN) - A mother sued New York City and its School Board, claiming a teacher molested her son for 2 1/2 years at PS 306.

Lorelle B. also sued her son's alleged abuser, Tulsie Singh, in Bronx County Supreme Court.

The mother claims that Singh "improperly sexually touched and fondled" her son from Sept. 1, 2004 to March 30, 2007 at the after-school program called "The Task Program."

The New York Post reported on Sept. 14, 2011, that Singh had been arrested the previous day, "for allegedly sodomizing a young male student for more than two years."

The Post reported that the abuse began in an empty classroom when the boy was 8 years old. Singh was 35 in September 2011, according to the Post article.

New York news channel NY1 reported that education officials had removed Singh from the classroom more than once before firing him in April 2011.

The mother and son are represented by Michael Braverman, with Getz & Braverman.
