Mom Says Gun Shop Let Killer Buy Fatal|Bullets With Previous Victim’s Credit Card

KANSAS CITY (CN) - A grieving mother says a Kansas gun shop sold ammunition to a man suspected of murdering his neighbor, and let him use her credit card to buy the bullets that he used to kill her son. Jo Ann Nilges sued The Bullet Hole, of Overland Park, in Jackson County Court.

Ms. Nilges says David Logsdon shot and killed her son Luke as he sat in his car in a shopping center parking lot in Kansas City, Mo.

Before that April 29, 2007 killing, she says, "Mr. Logsdon purchased firearm magazines and other firearm ammunition from The Bullet Hole using a credit card of his dead neighbor, Patricia Reed, a female who Mr. Logsdon was suspected of murdering.

"The Bullet Hole sold the firearm magazines and/or ammunition to Mr. Logsdon even though the credit card used to purchase the ammunition did not belong to Mr. Logsdon in that it bore a different name and the name of a female, not a male," the complaint states.

"The firearm magazines and/or ammunition bought at The Bullet Hole was used to fatally shoot plaintiff's decedent, Luke A. Nilges."

Ms. Nilges also sued The Bullet Hole's corporate parent, the Shawnee Gun Shop.

She is represented by Randy James of Lee's Summit.
