NASHVILLE (CN) - A dozen Mixteco workers say Durrett Cheese Sales abused them as "stupid Indians" and "donkeys," paid less than minimum wage, paid them nothing at all for more than a month, and when they asked for their back wages, called the Coffee County Sheriff to arrest them as undocumented immigrants.
The abuses allegedly came at Durrett Cheese Sales' Murfreesboro plant.
The Mixtecos also sue Greg Durrett, Coffee County and its sheriff and the arresting officers.
They are represented by Wade Cowan of Nashville and Monicar Ramirez with the Southern Poverty Law Center of Atlanta.
