Missouri Sex Slaver|Sentenced to 20 Years

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (CN) - The ringleader of what a prosecutor called one of Missouri's "most horrific" sex abuse crimes was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years in federal prison.

Edward Bagley held a mentally impaired girl as his sex slave for six years.

Bagley, 42, of Lebanon, Mo., tortured and mutilated and the girl and let others watch and participate in the torture sessions, prosecutors said.

Bagley pleaded guilty in January to one count of using an interstate facility to entice a minor into illegal sexual contact.

He had been charged with 11 federal counts in September 2010. A federal judge accepted the plea agreement and sentenced him Wednesday.

Bagley and his wife, Marilyn, 47, claimed the woman was a willing participant and engaged in bondage and sadomasochism after she turned 18.

Prosecutors painted a different picture.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Cynthia Cordes called it "one of the most violent and horrific cases that the U.S. Attorney's Office has ever seen."

The depraved acts were chronicled in detail in the original charges against Bagley.

Marilyn Bagley and four other men are also scheduled to be sentenced this week.
