JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (CN) - The Missouri Senate has jumped off the Mark McGwire bandwagon as quickly as jumped on. The state Senate voted unanimously Monday to rename a stretch of Interstate 70 in St. Louis the Mark Twain Highway, 1 month after McGwire admitted he'd used steroids.
The Senate named the stretch after McGwire in 1999, the year after he set a Major League single-season home run mark at 70.
The renaming measure will now go to the state House.
McGwire today is the St. Louis Cardinals hitting coach.
