JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - More than 200 school districts that claim Missouri's school funding system is unconstitutional are taking their complaint to the state Supreme Court.
The districts say the state's $2.7 billion school funding plan fails to provide adequate support for public schools. A Cole County judge rejected the claim in October, but the districts say a 1993 ruling in a different circuit court found the system invalid. That case never reached Missouri's Supreme Court. Instead, lawmakers voted to overhaul the funding formula.
