MANHATTAN (CN) – Miramax Film Corp. demands that Allison Pearson return the $700,000 advance on her unpublished novel, “I Think I Love You,” claiming she failed to deliver the manuscript after five years. Pearson wrote the 2003 bestseller, “I Don’t Know How She Does It.”
Miramax says it paid Pearson the advance for film rights to the unpublished novel, which she has failed to deliver. Pearson, of England, is a columnist for the Daily Mail. Miramax says their contract required delivery of the novel within two years – by July 3, 2005. It says Pearson has refused to reply to inquiries since then.
Miramax is represented in Federal Court by Rachel Schwartz with Schwartz & Thomashower.
