MINNEAPOLIS (CN) - Five black officers claim the City of Minneapolis' new police chief is racist and discriminated against them. The officers claim that since he became police chief in January, Timothy Dolan has fired, demoted or transferred every black officer of the rank of captain, inspector or above, all of whom served for at least 18 years, and that every officer he has demoted, save one, is black. They claim the defendant Police Department has a long, ignoble history of tolerating racist behavior, including allowing Lt. Robert Kroll to wear a "White Power" badge. See the federal complaint.
