WASHINGTON (CN) - The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement has issued a notice of intent to prepare an environmental impact statement on expected rule changes to improve stream protection.
An April notice of intent only included streams in Appalachia, but the agency plans to use the rule in other areas as well.
This new notice expands the scoping opportunities to include open houses, and outlines possible alternatives to the proposed action.
The agency requests comments for determining the scope of the environmental impact statement.
