Mine Will Devastate Grizzlies, Groups Say

MISSOULA, Mont. (CN) - The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service illegally approved construction and operation of the Rock Creek copper and silver mine, in the middle of habitat for the "severely imperiled Cabinet Mountains grizzly bear and bull trout," the Rock Creek Alliance claims in Federal Court.

Uncle Sam claims, with no basis, that environmental devastation from the mines that will "push this tiny grizzly population to extinction" will be compensated for by "acquisition of undisclosed lands," the complaint states.
