Michigan Appeals Court

DEFAMATION - The Michigan Appeals Court affirmed a judgment against radio host Bob Hughes, who threatened to criticize an agency that fired his wife on air. In response, the agency's lawyer threatened legal action over any defamatory statements. The court dismissed Hughes' action claimingthe attorney who sent the letter was not eligible to serve as the agency's counsel because the plaintiff anchored his claim on a statute that applies only to "authorities" of Bay County.
