Michael Jackson’s Father Files Wrongful Death Suit

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Dr. Conrad Murray gave Michael Jackson a lethal dose of sedatives that caused the pop star's death, then tried to conceal it, Jackson's father claims in a lawsuit filed in Federal Court on Friday, the one-year anniversary of the singer's death.

Joe Jackson says Murray not only gave his son the lethal mix of drugs, he then lied to paramedics and doctors about it, even telling an emergency room doctor that he only gave the singer Valium and Flomax before Michael Jackson's June 25, 2009 death.

The suit also accuses Murray of changing his story to police, and that an hour and 30 minutes lapsed between his finding Jackson and the time the 911 call was made.

According to the complaint, Jackson's bodyguard, Alberto Alvarez, told police that before he made the 911 call, Murray instructed him to "conceal bottles of Propofol, place them in a bag and clean up the room."

Also named in the lawsuit are Murray's clinics in Las Vegas and Houston, Acres Home Heart & Vascular Associates and GCA Holdings. They are accused of failing to train and supervise the doctor.

Murray has already pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in February.

The lawsuit seeks at least $75,000 for a host of charges, including liability, negligent hiring and wrongful death.

It was filed by Brian Oxman.
