Mexican Border Security

WASHINGTON (CN) - Michael Chertoff, the Secretary of Homeland Security, waived all the federal and state laws "in their entirety" as they apply to building up the border between the United States and Mexico.

The waived rules and laws regard endangered species including eagles, migratory birds (this is a treaty with other countries), air pollution, safe water, archeological and historic resources, wilderness, rivers, harbors, the coast, farmland, Native American graves, and religious freedom. Chertoff may make further waivers as he deems necessary, according to his determination.
