Mets’ Carlos Delgado Cries Foul

MINEOLA, N.Y. (CN) - New York Mets First Baseman Carlos Delgado sued a Long Island sports memorabilia dealer for $2.4 million, claiming it dropped the ball on its exclusive contract. Delgado claims the men who run Authentic Memorabilia agreed to sell more than $400,000 worth of his signed and used merchandise, but kept the stuff for themselves and intentionally mishandled assets so they would not have enough money to pay him.

Delgado claims the man did not offer the items for sale to the public. He claims defendants Nitin Doshi, Anish Berry, Spencer Lader and Mark Gelfand kept the items for themselves and did not pay a cent for them. Delgado claims the officers even filed false tax returns to reap personal tax benefits.
