Merle Haggard Says Former Manager’s |Tax Flub Cost Him $640,000 in Fines

REDDING, Calif. (CN) - Country and western singer Merle Haggard says his business manager underestimated his taxes and failed to file returns for four years, resulting in $640,000 in fees and penalties.

Haggard and his wife Theresa say Robert Brown of CPB Business Management handled their financial matters for years, but failed to file returns from 2004 through 2007.

Brown also failed to estimate the couple's liabilities, the Haggards claim in Shasta County Court.

Plaintiffs are represented by Anthony Kornarens.
