The Copley Press, publisher of the San Diego Union Tribune, and Break of Dawn Delivery Services cheated delivery workers of minimum wage, overtime and in other ways by misclassifying them as independent contractors, a class action claims in San Diego Superior Court.

Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: Starbucks, Famsa, and Roadway Express and YRC Worldwide, in Los Angeles Superior Court; CVS Caremark, in Orlando Federal Court; Bank of America, in an ERISA complaint in Manhattan Federal Court; Ameri-Vend, and Manber Trucking and Manber Storage, in Brooklyn Federal Court; Baron Homes, and Advanced Quality Transport Service, in Fort Myers, Fla., Federal Court; Continental Express, in Pulaski County Court, Little Rock, Ark.; Landscape Workshop, in Birmingham, Ala., Federal Court; Alabama Department of Corrections, in Montgomery Federal Court; The UPS Health and Welfare Package for Retired Employees, in an ERISA complaint in Chicago Federal Court; and Venetian Casino Resort, in Clark County Court, Las Vegas.
