Measly winnings

FRESNO — A federal court in California approves a $100,000 settlement to end farmworkers’ wage-and-hour class action against their former employer, which has gone out of business; that $100,000 is its remaining assets. With attorney fees, administration expenses and a class representative incentive award subtracted out, the net amount for the 4,000 estimated class members hovers near just $9,700. The average payout for each will be about $2.32.
