CLEVELAND (CN) - The mayor of Seven Hills, Ohio, claims Scene Magazine defamed him in an article called "The Bizarre Boy Mayor" by falsely accusing him of trying to "pull off stunts" and implying that he sought personal information about his constituents for "illicit purposes."
In a complaint in Cuyahoga County Court, Mayor David Bentkowski claims the article falsely accused him of "routinely try(ing) to pull off stunts like limiting residents' feedback at meetings and barring government employees from running for office." It also insinuated that Bentkowski "sought personal information about his constituents, including young women, for illicit purposes."
Represented by Brent English, the mayor seeks more than $25,000 in damages. Defendants include Cleveland Scene Publishing, Cleveland Scene LLC and Village Voice Media Holdings.
