VANCOUVER, B.C. (CN) - The Cosmetology Association of British Columbia claims its education director cost it $150,000 by massive cheating on tests. It claims Kent T. Nguyen passed 50 women on 150 cosmetology tests, but no one showed up, there were no tests, and Nguyen completed them all himself.
The Association says it had to settle the case for $150,000 with the National Interstate Council of Boards of Cosmetology. It wants that money back, plus punitive damages. It's represented in B.C. Supreme Court by Harper Grey.
Cosmetologists have to pass tests in "hair technology, hair design and esthetics," and meet other qualifications.
