Pot Possession Not Probable Cause

<span style="font-weight: 400;">The Maryland Court of Appeals <a href="http://www.courthousenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/potpossession.pdf"><strong>ruled</strong></a> that police officers unlawfully searched a man after smelling marijuana in his car and observing a joint in the center console. The officers did not have probable cause to believe the man was in possession of a criminal amount of marijuana, and possession of less than 10 grams of pot is a civil – not an arrestable – offense.  </span>

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Maryland Court of Appeals ruled that police officers unlawfully searched a man after smelling marijuana in his car and observing a joint in the center console.
