SEATTLE (CN) - Yaletown Soft Co. hires illegal Canadian workers so it can pay them under the table and duck taxes, and it fired a manager so it could replace her with the cheaper, illegal workers, Lana Nechayev claims in King County Court.
Nechayev claims Yaletown's owner Zane Lowell, who runs 13 furniture stores in Vancouver, B.C., and one in Seattle, cheated her of overtime and benefits and then fired her on "a pretext to replace her with undocumented workers from Canada whom he could pay, and has paid and continues to pay 'under the table.'"
