CLAYTON, Mo. - A man claims he contracted hepatitis C during surgery at St. Anthony's Medical Center due to the staff's negligence and a dirty operating room. Jeffrey Carroll says his surgical wound was contaminated by another patient's blood left from an earlier surgery.
Carroll claims that St. Anthony's failed to clean, sanitize and examine the operating room before his surgery on Feb. 8, 2006. He says he had to undergo chemotherapy and other medical treatments for hepatitis and suffered pain and emotional distress. He is represented by Michael Stokes in St. Louis County Court.
