Man Says Celebrity Body Shop Trashed His Ride

LITTLETON Colo. (CN) - An auto body shop that appeared on "Pimp My Ride" did a "shoddily detailed and designed" $50,000 job on a Hummer, a dissatisfied customer claims in court.

Paul Beresford sued West Coast Customs in Arapahoe County Court.

West Coast Customs has appeared on MTV's "Pimp My Ride" and "Inside West Coast Customs" on the Discovery Channel.

Beresford claims said he hired West Coast to customize his Hummer H2 for his wife. When it shipped the SUV back, Beresford claims in the lawsuit, "he received not the detailed customization job he was expecting, but rather a shoddily detailed and designed automobile."

In the 12-page lawsuit, Beresford details a long list of things that were wrong with the vehicle including "a large crack on the dashboard by the passenger side heater vents ... the windshield was pitted ... holes in the carpets ... razor blade scratches on the driver's side rear window ... the paint was bubbling in many places, including in one-inch strips running the length of the on either side ... Finally, the H2's previous orange paint showed in several places."

To top it off, he says, "Items of value were removed from the H2, including the tires, rims, and roof rack, and were not returned or credited back to Mr. Beresford."

The body shop blew off his complaints, he says: "When Mr. Beresford attempted to discuss these issues with West Coast Customs, West Coast Customs first ignored their concerns and then refused to take responsibility for the defects."

He claims it will cost another $60,000 for the defendants to fulfill their original contracts.

He seeks damages for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, consumer law violations, failure to provide a written estimate, negligence, negligent bailment, negligent misrepresentation and common law fraud.
