JACKSONVILLE, FLA. (CN) - A widow says her 80-year-old husband died after being knocked down by an overloaded shopping cart pushed by another Home Depot customer.
Nancy Zanard says her late husband, Richard, was knocked down by a shopping cart pushed by defendant Billy Sanders, who had bought several large garbage cans. She claims a Home Depot employee stacked the cans so high in the cart that they obscured Sanders' view. He knocked her husband down in the parking lot and broke his hip, she says. He died three weeks later after suffering a post-operative heart attack from hip surgery, the widow says.
She and her two sons seek damages for wrongful death. They sued Home Depot, Sanders, and Sanders' employer: she says the incident happened while Sanders was working. The Zanards are represented by Camerlengo & Brockwell.
