Man Claims NYPD Cops Strangled His Penis

BROOKLYN (CN) - A man claims in court that New York City policemen falsely arrested him for drinking in public, beat him without cause and "placed a drawstring around his penis, and strangled his penis."

Nathaniel Carter sued the City of New York in Kings County Supreme Court.

Carter claims he was standing on a public sidewalk in the Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighborhood on June 12, 2011 when several of New York's Finest approached him "without provocation" and "strangled the plaintiff about the neck, placed a drawstring around his penis, and strangled his penis, causing bodily injury."

He says an officer or officers continued to assault him as he sat on a bench.

And he says they falsely charged him with "consumption of alcohol on a public street," though "there was not a scintilla of credible evidence" of this.

He seeks damages for false arrest, unjust imprisonment, malicious prosecution, assault and battery, civil rights violations and emotional distress. He is represented by Erik Lutwin, with Lutwin & Lutwin, of Manhattan.
