TROY, Mo. (CN) - A 30-year-old man is accused of raping his estranged wife while she was recovering from chemotherapy treatments. Michael A. Dorlaque is in the Lincoln County jail on a $75,000 cash-only bond, charged with forcible rape and domestic assault.
Dorlaque's wife said he tied her to a bed using rope and white medical tape, according to police. She told investigators that she was on bed rest after being hospitalized for a heart attack and blood clotting from chemotherapy treatments. She said her doctor's restrictions included no sexual activity because it could aggravate the blood clots.
Lincoln County Det. Shayne Duryea told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the couple lived separately but Dorlaque stayed at the home occasionally to help her recover.
Dorlaque denied the accusations to investigators. He said he had consensual sex with his wife and was unaware of the doctor's orders. Dorlaque said he fell asleep on his wife's couch after drinking alcohol the night of the attack and took his wife and her daughter to a doctor's appointment the next day.
