Man Admits He Impersonated Attorney

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Richard Katz pleaded guilty to a federal felony charge of defrauding Montage Resorts, of Laguna Beach, by sending an email in which he misrepresented himself as Richard Ross, a partner in the Phoenix law firm Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal, and demanding $48,430 in legal fees. Katz asked for the money to be wired to his bank account - neither Ross nor the law office knew anything about it. See plea agreement.
