Magic Trick Goes Up in Flames

LAS VEGAS (CN) - Magician Steve Wyrick's stunt coordinator says he was burned when a magic trick went wrong. Jeffrey Jay says he was performing Wyrick's "Death Drop Illusion" at Planet Hollywood on July 4, when the trick went up in flames.

The trick required Jay to get inside a box draped with black cloth, which was lifted up by ropes. The ropes were lit on fire, and it spread to the cloth. Jay says the cloth had been negligently painted black earlier that day.

Jay suffered internal and external injuries and anxiety, according to his lawsuit in Clark County Court. He says he has been unable to work due to his injuries. He is represented by Patrick Murphy.
